Re: PlatFrom: Shawn; LSOL Sysop Date: Saturday, January 9, 1999
Time: 2:10:53 pmTo put it simple, Otigold seems better. We have been using Plat for time
time now. The new version is suppose to add the features we want, however
the new version was supposed to be released by Boardtown before
thanksgiving. We simply want what most people want. A ISP billing platform
that is easy to use, stable and quickly sets up accounts.
Plat also has a few glitches in the Gui interface that make it difficult to
work with. i.e.: clicking on a window within Plat does not always mean it
come to the front. We find this on all versions (95&NT) on all of our
machines. You cant resize windows correctly. You can click on the corner to
drage it bigger but the contents stay in place (non of the collums resize).
Multiple e-mail accounts are a chor. You have to create a whole new account
and copy the essential info from one to another, this is one place the
window-to-front glitch gets annoying. I could go on but won't.
Optigold also has everything Plat has and more. We don't expect Optigold to
be perfect but our first system was ICBM, and even that was easier to manage
than Plat. We are thinking of purchasing a new server to devote to billing
only. We figured this would be the time to change billing software anyway.
