It's probably going to be the Default TTL that you want to change.
Due to a bug in QuickDNS 3.5, there is no scripting access to the
default TTL of a zone. This will be addressed in the next update.
So, for now, one possible solution is:
- Run the Export Server Configuration script.
- Use BBEdit (or other text editor with multi-file find & replace) to
change the default TTL. Also update the serial number.
- Run a script to delete all zones. (I have one if you need it, but see below.)
- Run the Import Server Configuration script.
Alternatives:
- If you're using Bind or QuickDNS Server for Mac OS X as your
server, you can work directly on the text-format zone files on the
server. In fact, if you're using Mac OS X, you can still use BBEdit
to make the necessary changes, without moving the files from their
normal location. Either way, remember to tell named to stop and start
when you're done. This way, there's no export, delete, and import
steps.
- If you're using QuickDNS Server for Mac OS 8/9 as your server,
replace the third step with, "Remove all files from the Primary Data
folder." This is because the script to delete all zones takes quite a
while to execute.
Other notes:
- You may want to work on a duplicate server, and then copy the
updated zone files into place on the real server.
- The Export and Import scripts don't save load balance records.
You'll need to manually recreate them.
