An alias gains all properties of the original name, though it doesn't gain the subnames. What this means for this particular case is, you can create an alias of a load balance record's name and the alias will automatically become load balanced, just like the original load balance record name. So, for example, you could create this alias: www.48hourhollywoodmiraclediet.com. CNAME www.48hourdiet.com. You'd then remove the load balance record named www.48hourhollywoodmiraclediet.com.
