I had the same problem with the W*Vb3 installer. It shouldn't be necessary to
boot to OS 9 to run the installer. What worked for me was to log out of OS X
(no need to shut down), log back in, and then run the installer before you run
anything else. The person who suggested this to me indicated that it may be a
general bug in Installer VISE, as he'd seen it with 'more than one' installer.
