Re: Load balance not working...From: Men & Mice Support Date: Saturday, October 6, 2001
Time: 1:10:27 amIf you enter "lbr.starionhost.net" into a web browser, you have a 50%
chance of hitting the "backup" web server. Right now, no other
hostname is being affected by load balancing.
Note that QuickDNS Load Balancer's "interval" checks don't show up in
the log because Load Balancer doesn't send an HTTP request. It just
establishes a connection at the TCP level, without sending any data
over that connection.
If you want to load balance, for example, www.starionhost.net, you'll
need perform the following two steps:
- Remove the A record named www.starionhost.net. It currently looks like:
www.starionhost.net. A 209.248.156.138
- Create a CNAME record named www.starionhost.net that looks like this:
www.starionhost.net. CNAME lbr.starionhost.net.
(You can copy that line and paste it into the zone to create the record.)
