If it fails to look up the SOA record, that means it cannot get the zone serial number -- which is needed to let it know if the zone has changed. It may well be that some "Failed to lookup SOA info for domain xxx" problems will fix themselves but it most certainly is a problem which, if it persists, indicates a possibly bigger problem.
