Okay, but for now I'm just leaving mail.officemedic.net as it is instead
of changing it to mx1.officemedic.net. I have a serious headache from
trying to sort this out.

Do you take back your original assessment, then?

(I originally had the A record, your suggestion would add the MX record.)
