Re: OS X Server Wrecked My QDNS ProFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Tuesday, January 8, 2002
Time: 5:15:26 amHave you reinstalled QuickDNS? The Mac OS X Server installer no doubt
stomped on significant portions of QuickDNS and its data.
Remove QuickDNS Server and Remote entirely from the machine, then
reinstall it. Note that you'll have to enter your zones again
afterward.
To remove QuickDNS Server and Remote, execute these commands in a
Terminal window (one line at a time):
sudo -s
/usr/sbin/qdnscontrol stop
rm -r /var/named
rm -r /etc/named.conf*
rm -r /Library/Receipts/QuickDNS*
rm -r /System/Library/StartupItems/QuickDNS
rm -r /usr/sbin/qdns*
rm -r /usr/sbin/named*
exit
The first line will open a root shell, so that you don't have to keep
typing "sudo" on every line. You will need to be using an
administrator account, and you will need to enter your login
password. The last line closes the root shell. The other lines delete
all of the necessary files.
There may be a few errors produced by these commands. If so, you can
safely ignore them.
Once you've completed these steps, reboot (just to be safe), then
install QuickDNS Server again. Everything should work normally from
there on.
