Time: 4:11:51 pmHere's a plug to get a G3 with Filemaker Pro Server. We switched from NT
about two weeks ago. NT always had problems, not enough memory, security
holes, all the usual stuff we know and love :-P We put in the new G3/400
(128mb/9gig) with Filemaker Pro Server and ever since we installed it we
have not had to do anything (except for the upgrade to 1.8.1). It is
really a significant and enjoyable change from the flakiness and resource
appetite of NT. Not to mention a similarly capable and configured NT
machine costs almost twice as much as the G3 machine (heh, NT Server
license alone... )
Anyway, IMHO, if you're looking for the best server/software combo, go
with a G3 and Filemaker Pro Server. I believe Shawn bought 4 G3 servers
;-)
