My typical 'virtual domain' zone (sans SOA) looks something like:

virtualdomain.com. NS my.name.server.
virtualdomain.com. NS my.other.name.server.
virtualdomain.com. A w.x.y.z ; the IP address of my web server
www.virtualdomain.com CNAME virtualdomain.com.
virtualdomain.com. MX 10 my.mail.server.
virtualdomain.com. MX 20 my.backup.mail.server. ; if relevant

Once the DNS zone is set up, you will, of course, need to configure your web
server to serve the virtual host and your mail server to accept mail for it.
How you do that depends on your particular web and mail servers, so we'll
leave it as an exercise for the reader. ;-)
