config questions

Problems:

I'm getting some email bounces for incoming messages, and initial
difficulty connecting remotely to my web, FTP, and FileMaker servers.
First time typically fails, second or third attempt in same session
works fine.

Background Info:

Monitoring remotely from home using PageSentry, and it's not
reporting any errors except occasionally for the FileMaker server,
which is configured in QDNS to be recognizable as
servername.mydomain.net.

The second level domain for my two name servers uses ONLY my two name
servers in their NIC records. For the sake of discussion let's call
my primary domain "mydomain.net," which then uses ns1.mydomain.net
and ns2.mydomain.net as it's only two name servers. Would adding
additional secondaries from other ISPs fix my problems?

In the TCP/IP settings for my Mac servers I'm using the Manual
settings with six IP#s in the "Name Server addr field" (my primary
name server IP, my secondary name server IP, and four secondary IPs
from my connection provider). The "Search domains field" is currently
empty. Would adding domains to the search domains field help fix my
problems?

Each server has a dedicated IP.

Running QDNS Pro 3.5.1 for my primary name server ns1.mydomain.net

Running QDNS Pro 2.2.1 for my secondary name server ns2.mydomain.net

This was all working fine before I switched from my T1 provider to a
DSL provider not long ago. Something in my config or DNS must have
been messed up in the process.

I also changed my router+dsu/csu from a Cisco 2514+DigitalLink to a
router/modem sold me by my DSL provider.

I also changed the brand of switch used to network my servers to the router.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting or things to try would be most welcome.

TIA,
Hazlitt
