of the 2 nic's, the one with fake ip's has 2 ip's instead of just 1. I
wouldn't think having 2 ip's on the fake side would do this. There is
nothing blocking port 5003.
Getting ready to completely remove and re-install the software on this
machine..

Is it on the same subnet as the database server? Also, do you have any
traffic blocking on your local network? Make sure UDP port 5003 is not
blocked (that's what it uses to automatically locate the database
server).
