Re: Total confusion over Web servingFrom: Geoff Jukes Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2002
Time: 12:01:26 pmI examined the Email from the Key distribution server. In it, I have my
product keys listed in the following order:
FileMaker Pro Client
FileMaker Pro Server
FileMaker Pro Unlimited
As follows:
*******************************************************************
This is your license info for FileMaker Pro.
Your company is licensed for the following:
FileMaker Pro 5.5 on 1 workstation
FileMaker 5.5 Server on 1 server
FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited on 1 web server
For tar files, use the following command to extract them:
tar -xvzf filename.tar
You can download the installers from:
----------------
**FileMaker Pro 5.5 Client Installer**
Installation Code: 1-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Windows:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS 8/9:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
MacOS X:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
----------------
**FileMaker 5.5 Server Installer**
Installation Code: 1-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Windows:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Red Hat Linux:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS 8/9: ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS X:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
----------------
**FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited Installer**
Installation Code: 1-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(same installer, different installation code)
Windows:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS 8/9:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS X:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
**Web Server Connector Installer**
Windows:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Red Hat Linux::
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
Mac OS X:
ftp://ftp.digitalpoint.com/xxxxx/xxxxxxx
----------------
*******************************************************************
As you can see, the FMP Unlimited comes after the FMP Server, and
states:
**FileMaker 5.5 Unlimited Installer**
Installation Code: 1-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(same installer, different installation code)
So I naturally assumed it meant the 'Same installer as FMP Server',
which DOES have an RPM. Without looking at the filenames (as they say,
read the instructions!) I just installed AND REGISTERED FMP Server with
the FMP Unlimited License key.... which WORKS btw!
I think you MAC guys just assume that everyone else understands the
Bizarre way (and it IS bizarre) that FMP is both licensed and
distributed.

They do not need to be on the same subnet.
