Again, I don't know for sure, but I don't think it would work; simply
because it requires user-interaction. You have to actually log-into the
database with the account you created with the 'Web Server' automated
task.

I hope I'm wrong though.....

Your description matches my understanding exactly, but
never having set this up, I'm keenly aware that I don't
know what I don't know. :)

I understand that FM Server only serves up the database,
and I guess I understand that FM Unlimited connects to
the database (through FM Server) and makes the web pages
available (through its internal web server or an external
one like IIS or Apache).

But I'm with you -- requiring an open user application to
serve up the pages seems wacky. I wonder if it would
run under the SRVANY utility to run it as a service?

AFAIK... and I could be wrong here... FMP Server and FMP Unlimited HAVE
to be on different boxes (although there *are* occasions when it may
work with both on one, it is not a supported config).

Now that said, FMP Server doesn't actually serve up the web pages, FMP
Unlimited does. FMP Server can run as a service (so serving the
databases to the LAN) but FMP Unlimited has to be open (and logged in
with the Web Security Database open) in order to serve up the HTML. By
that, I mean actually running as an application, not a service.

Hope that clarifies :) (and if I'm wrong about unlimited, PLEASE tell
me... I think requiring an open and logged in client app is a nightmare!
How can you be sure it's up?! What if the server crashes/reboots and the
client doesn't auto-load?!)
