OS X vs Reverse LookupsFrom: Bill Staudenheimer Date: Sunday, July 21, 2002
Time: 3:43:29 pmQuickDNS Manager for OS X 3.5
Recently upgraded to OS X 10.1.5
:
Suddenly, the Reverse Address lookup requests for
64-27.26.31.209.in-addr.arpa
cannot find the server, although the configuration has been in use since
March.
Forward lookups resolve just fine.
REVERSE:
> set type=PTR
> 209.31.26.68
Server: [209.31.26.68]
Address: 209.31.26.68
*** [209.31.26.68] can't find 68.26.31.209.in-addr.arpa.: Server failed
FORWARD
> set type=A
> ns.staudenheimer.com
Server: [209.31.26.68]
Address: 209.31.26.68
The same setup, running on an OS 9 with QuickDNS Pro,
works correctly in both directions, so I believe the delegation
from the ISP is still correct.
Both named and qdns are running.
My impression is that something changed in 10.1.5.
Any clues about what to look for?
Bill
