Re: QDNS Pro (OS X) and Active DirectoryFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Monday, July 22, 2002
Time: 9:30:01 amDefine "work with".
If you want to use your QuickDNS-managed server as a slave for an AD
zone, then the answer is "probably". The DNS server installed by
QuickDNS Remote supports the necessary record types, it supports
dynamic updates, and as a slave server, it shouldn't choke on the
record names Microsoft uses.
If you want to use your QuickDNS-managed server as a master for an AD
zone, yes, it'll work, but understand you will have to do everything
by hand. AD can only automatically manage the zone if there's a
Microsoft DNS server running on the global catalog server, or at
least that's my understanding.
If you want to delegate the AD subzones to a MS DNS server from a
QuickDNS-managed server, this too can be done, but by default the
server will choke on some of the record names. Some editing of text
files on the master server is required; contact support for details.
