Clearing usage logs

We have long had a problem with usage log imports in that they seem
to take upwards of 30 hours to complete a month's imports. We are now a
little backlogged on that chore and are thinking of starting over with the
file. We have and/or can regenerate historical usage logs and I would like
to know how to go about recreating a 'blank' usage.fp5 file to start over
with (and will that work, or does it need to be specially formatted, etc...)?
