Re: Dns load not 50/50?From: Chris Buxton Date: Monday, August 19, 2002
Time: 6:18:48 pmThat depends. What are the sources of the traffic?
Traffic from your local machines (i.e. machines where you've put your
servers' IP addresses in the TCP/IP settings) will either be directed
to the first address listed (if the client is Windows or classic Mac
OS) or to whichever server responds faster (*nix-type operating
systems, including Mac OS X).
Traffic from other DNS servers will either be directed to the first
server listed in the gTLD servers (MS DNS), a random choice (djbdns),
or whichever server responds faster (BIND, QuickDNS Server).
