there is no best way, just the only way.
1. since you have changed the names of your NS's, you have to register
those new "hosts" with the registrar of the parent domain. ns1.domain.com
must be registered (its A record) with the registrar for domain.com. That
gets your new plumbing hooked up. Now we just need the water.
2. For each domain delegated to your old NS's, the domain's registrant must
go to the domain's registrar and re-delegate the domain to your new NS's.
Step 1. must precede step 2.
3. in preparation for this White Knuckles Event, you should lower all your
TTL's to something short like 300 seconds. after the switch, raise the
TTL's to 1 day or whatever.

hmm, you should have thought of that obstacle before you started this
project. Is it too late to turn back ?
