Just a comment from the peanut gallery -

Speaking only for myself I have observed over several years now that
Shawn and company (OptiGold):

1) work very hard
2) put up with some of the most inane questions
3) personally involve themselves with support
4) bend over backwards to provide custom features and requested
modifications
5) are exceedingly fair and generous with software licenses (some even
free)
6) is forgiving of unpaid customer debts
7) trusting of strangers (see 6)
8) work very hard

When I saw the pricing thing sometime back I too wondered at the $1000
vs. $500 issue and frankly thought to myself that there was something
missing or incorrect. In fact I have not seen any change in the stated
price of $1000 for some time.

What I personally believe is that a kind word in private or a respectful
request for explanation in private is all that is ever needed to
discover that answer.

For myself I never worried about it. $1000 etc is not an unreasonable
price in any case compared to the going rate(s) for comparable solutions
on the market today.
