This usually means that if you are currently using a product which is
considered (according to the company providing the discount) to be direct=
ly
competitive with their product, they will provide you with a discount
to switch to their product.

ie: If you use QuickBooks Pro, Peachtree Accounting might provide you
with large incentives to switch to Peachtree. Peachtree, of course,
would market their software as an "upgrade."

Thus, marketing gobbledy-gook with a discount that a small percentage
do get to take advantage of.
