Looking For Input...From: Shawn Hogan Date: Wednesday, October 2, 2002
Time: 3:02:11 pmHow upset would everyone be if I required that the workstation doing an
Optigold upgrade had to run FileMaker Pro 5.5 or higher?
All other workstations could run 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0 still.
If you didn't *have* a copy of FileMaker 5.5/6.0 and you didn't want to buy
one, you could use the 5.5 Runtime for free, although it would be an extra
step because you would need to then open the normal client after the upgrade
to put it in multi-user mode.
The reason I ask is 5.5 added a function that lets me manipulate the key
increment counters inside the tables so I could offload the unique key
generation functions to the database server itself instead of generating,
managing and validating (for uniqueness) on my end.
