Possible hotspot provisioning ideas...

Howdy all. I didn't get any feedback on my earlier
message about using Optigold in a hotspot environment
so I did some thinking and thought I'd share some
ideas and see if I'm off base or not. :-)

I'd like to use Optigold to handle the billing
infrastructure, of course. I'm looking at using
MacRadius for the authentication and finally looking
at Intermapper for SNMP-based remote management.

The way I see it, a new subscriber tries to log on to
the hotspot wireless access point. MacRadius doesn't
recognize the user's radio client MAC address and lets
Optigold know that the user is not authorized access
to the netowrk. Optigold then pushes the user to its
web-based signup page, providing the customer the
capability of signing up immediately by using their
credit card info. Once they enter their info and it's
approved, the user's radio card MAC address is entered
into MacRadius' authentication database. MacRadius
then tells Optigold to approve access to the network.
Optigold then tracks the user's time online, if it's
minute-based (or whatever) or bills the subscriber a
flat-rate, if they had so choosen at time of sign-up.

Does this sound out of whack?

I'd really appreciate any info.

Thx much!

Regards,
Kory
