Re: Move QDNS CentralFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Wednesday, October 9, 2002
Time: 5:04:05 pmYou should be able to do this using the following steps (all commands
to be executed in a Terminal window):
- Install QuickDNS Central on the new server.
- Quit QuickDNS Central on the new server - on Mac OS X, use this command:
sudo qdnscontrol stopcentrald
- Copy over the data directory - on Mac OS X, this is /var/qdns/. You
can copy it safely using these commands on the original machine:
cd /var
tar czf ~/qdnsc-data.tgz qdns
This creates a file called "qdnsc-data.tgz" in your home folder. Then
on the new server, copy the file to your home folder and use these
commands:
cd /var
sudo tar xzf ~/qdnsc-data.tgz
- Start QuickDNS Central again - on Mac OS X, use this command:
sudo qdnscontrol startcentrald
Note that I've never tested this, so I can't say for sure that it
will work properly.
