Data Backup Procedures OG File Back up

Hello Shawn, (sorry for the "keyworded" subject line..you'll understand why
shortly)

I've been searching and reading the archives all day for a clear
"step-by-step" procedure for backing up our OG datafiles.

We are running FMPRO Server, the web server and all on one server. (is that
bad?). With that in mind is the following statement true?

"You cannot backup files that are in use or open. So we have to schedule a
backup job through FMPro Server using the back-up utility within FMPRO
Server. This apparently should close all open connections, create and dump
a backup of the files into a directory that you can come by and grab with a
tape system, then FMPRO Server should restart just after the dump."

(this is what I'm fin to tell my server guys who have so made it my duty to
tell them how to backup the data).

Let me know if this is accurate or fill me in. If you have a thread that
answers this...feel free to post.

Ken
