thank you, on reflecting on the stuff below, maybe I don't need to=3F

yes that will be the new remote ip#, OK=3F

dot.tc is the "home" of all our stuff and has the name servers:
DOT.tc.=09=09=091D IN NS=09ns2.DOT.tc.
DOT.tc.=09=09=091D IN NS=09ns1.DOT.tc.
ns2.DOT.tc.=09=091D IN A=09=09202.129.103.8
ns1.DOT.tc.=09=091D IN A=09=09202.129.103.7
all the other domains have the line 3 & 4 above
>you only have to change the one host record.
do you mean that changing "ns2.DOT.tc. 1D IN A 202.129.103.8" to the new
ip# in the primary DNS server will be all I need=3F
If so, I will follow the following sequence:
1. Go to the new secondary DNS server and install QuickDNS
2. Timbutu to the old secondary DNS and copy folder "QuickDNS Data" from
old to new QuickDNS folder
3. Quit old QuickDNS secondary (and extract alias from startup folder)
4. copy "QDNS Pro 3.0 Server Prefs" from old system:preferences to new one
5. start up new secondary QuickDNS (and place alias in startup folder)
6. with my laptop, use QuickDNS Manager to reset A record as above on =
primary.
7. wait for zone transfer to update new secondary DNS.
