Thanks Jeff, but I may have been unclear (as I cant fit the answer to my
thoughts:-) I am NOT talking of a backup server - more like a backup MX...

- Now:

MX -> mail.runtime.net
here is the server#1 running

MX -> mail2.runtime.net
server#2 inactive here, just the software not running and a backup
of the settings everyday from server#1

- After catastrophe:

MX -> mail.runtime.net
server#1 is gone with the building

MX -> mail2.runtime.net
server#2 activated and the settings installed

By this I had to do nothing with DNS that has to propagate through the DNS
system (with a delay) all mail will be going to the right server.

I do realize I have to notify my users to shift to another server to
read/send but must be faster that the alternative to have the DNS propagate
(1-2 days)

Is there something I missed or incorrect in this assumption?

Bo
