Doubt there would be much of a break. More than pricing, the in-house maintenance is outrageously high. If you offload the maintenance to a host, I am sure that could be $10,000 to $20,000 monthly just to baby-sit the Oracle engine, servers and apply patches and keep things 24/7. Don't get me wrong, Oracle is an incredible and dependable db but is aimed at much higher volume of users and data. I love working on and with the beast. If you wanted one it would be like buying a Ferrarri to drive to the store once a month (like some people I know wouldn't mind doing). Or maybe a Hummer to climb the hills of Rancho Santa Fe. I better go back to my bat-cave before I am found out.
