The DNS service in each case is BIND 8. Nothing was changed between
versions (that we know of) that would cause the problem you report.
(The BIND name server was updated from 8.3.3 to 8.3.4, but this
simply fixes a security hole in the service - we don't know of any
performance-affecting changes.)

What lookups are failing? Is there any pattern to them? Or does your
server simply bog down, refusing to return any data?

These questions are designed to help you narrow down the cause of the
problem. There are far too many factors for us (the list) or Men &
Mice support to try to lead you through the trouble-shooting process
step by step.
