Re: trying to move to 4.5From: Men & Mice Support Date: Saturday, March 29, 2003
Time: 5:54:03 pmThe answer to this latest question, at the moment, is to wait for the
non-beta version of QuickDNS Manager. The beta version has some
scripting problems.
In general, the solution for going from version 2.x to version 4.x is
as follows:
Step 1: Upgrade to version 3.5.x. This means: Download the installer
from our FTP server, install, copy your QuickDNS Data folder to the
new version, quit the old version, and launch the new version. Launch
both QuickDNS Server and QuickDNS Remote. Then launch QuickDNS
Manager and connect to QuickDNS Remote.
Step 2: Export your data. There's a script included called "Export
Server Configuration" (which in later versions we renamed "Back Up
Zones"). The version distributed with QuickDNS 3.5.x only works with
QuickDNS Manager running on Mac OS 8.5 through 10.0.4. It will not
work on Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
Step 3: Import your data to the new version. Again, the import script
("Restore Zones") doesn't work properly in the 4.5 beta version that
we have out now. We currently expect to release the final version in
a few days.
