Re: Response TimesFrom: Men & Mice Support Date: Monday, March 31, 2003
Time: 11:06:51 pmThe only configuration change that happened between versions 4.0 and
4.5 is that we upgraded the BIND version from 8.3.3 to 8.3.4, due to
a security concern.
However, QuickDNS is also compatible with BIND 9. It would be very
interesting to see if upgrading to BIND 9.2.2 solved this problem,
for anyone currently experiencing it. Note that this requires some
Unix knowledge to get right, so please be confident that you know
what you're doing before attempting this.
You can find instructions for upgrading your configuration from BIND
8.x to BIND 9.x here:
<http://kbase.menandmice.com/view.html?rec=19>
I'm afraid installing the actual BIND 9 software is going to have to
be left as an exercise for the reader. If you decide to tackle this,
keep in mind that QuickDNS' boot script expects to find the main
binary file, named, in /usr/sbin, not /usr/local/sbin.
