I think you did not read the next line after that that said "all rolled
into one". ie., space/power/bw one flat price point. Of course we've
got limitations, ie., a AS400 sized machine is not going to fall under
our typical pricing structure. I guess what I am trying to indicate is
that we are not overly concerned with physical space as it is a given
that a server will take up a certain amount of space. Charging extra
for that estate buys no added value for the colo customer.

Besides, the Xserve as a for instance takes up only 1U of space, but
eats more energy then 2 G4 towers and gives off more heat which needs
to be dealt with than those two G4 towers. The physical space is
nothing in the overall scheme of things.

No, it's a good deal if you want to be paying for bandwidth, power,
remote hands and great support.

Not necessarily. Again, like I said, real estate is the cheapest part
of colo. BW/Power, UPS, A/C, etc., is where the costs are. We are
simply conveying the value in terms of price to the customer by
providing them bw/power, etc. space is the lowest part of the equation.

Exactly, but then again we are not in an empty over built 2 million
square foot facility either. In these cases you are paying for space
you will never use to offset the lack of filled space.

Sure it does, and we charge accordingly to cover those costs. However
I am not going to slap another "x" $ fee on customers because they use
1" more of air. There is no value to the customer in space. The value
is in the services you can derive from the space you occupy. If I were
on the East/West Coast I suppose things might be different. Like you
said, it's all relative.
