Multihoming on OS X 10.2.6 and QDNS 3.5From: Paul Willis Date: Thursday, June 5, 2003
Time: 4:58:07 amHi
We are running QDNS 3.5.1 on Mac OS X 10.2.6 as our primary server.
This box also runs LetterRip mailing list software.
We are in the process of changing ISPs and have two lines into the
office with two blocks of IP numbers. The idea is to have the server
working on two different IP number/subnets and then change the IP
numbers for this server on the root servers. After a week or so (once
the changes have propagated) switch off the old IP number and
connection.
I have connected our QDNS server to both lines and added a second
configuration using the Network System Preferences.
While I can ping both IP numbers and LetterRip responds on both IP
numbers QDNS only responds on the old IP number. This is the first one
listed in the configuration file.
This method has also worked for other services (webservers) on other
servers. Is there something in QDNS 3.5.1 which prevents it working in
this way?
