DNS Expert, how to achieve the same...From: Scott Haneda Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2003
Time: 7:55:33 pmI am pretty bummed that DNS expert did not make it to OS X, will it?
I have become fairly agile in looking up what I need with host and dig,
however, DNS expert could perform tasks much like a robot, rather than
making me the robot :-)
One thing I liked to do about once a month, was paste in a list of all the
domains I have, in my case, a few hundred, and check only one thing, that is
if my request for my secondary to slave the zones had been performed. Often
was the case I forgot to let them know, or they forgot to do so.
I asked this once before, and can not seem to locate the email that was
sent, but I also remember leaving the email with some confusion, perhaps
someone can explain to me the best way to do this type of lookup and what to
look for.
Even better would be someone who can suggest a small shell script that could
be fed a return separated file of domains and return a simple true/false as
to whether or not it is even being slaved at all.
Will there be DNS Expert for OS X anytime in the future? Does anyone know
of a competing tool, or set of shell/perl/* scripts that can accomplish the
same?
Thanks
