DNS Expert Professional is unlikely to be ported to Mac OS X in the
near future.

The way to check for proper slave service is, send an iterative (i.e.
non-recursive) query to the slave server for the zone in question,
and see whether it returns an authoritative answer.

Actually, you should also check the SOA record to make sure it has
the same version of the zone as on your master server. Check to make
sure that the intended slave is not configured as a second master,
and that it has an up-to-date copy of the zone.
