Pointing more than one domain to the same ipFrom: Lasse T=?ISO-8859-1?B?9g==?=rngren Date: Thursday, July 31, 2003
Time: 6:13:16 amHi!
I am using QuickDNS 2.2 on a Mac with Mac OS 9.0.4. I'm also having
Appleshare IP 6.3 and QuickMail Server 2 on it. I am serving some different
domains on it and have a question on the DNS-service.
I have set up several zone-files, each with one domain. All of the domains
are pointing to the same IP (the same machine). To me it seems to be workin=
g
fine, but in the manual for QuickDNS, the recommendation when having virtua=
l
hosts is not like this. Instead one are supposed to use cname-alias.
Does anyone have a thought on this? To me, it seems to be working. But is
there a problem with multiple domains on one IP? I understand that I can't
have reverse dns on more than one (the nameserver-domain).
Best regards
