Lame ServerFrom: Kenneth Kirksey Date: Thursday, August 7, 2003
Time: 8:07:48 amI was doing my periodic check with DNS Expert on all my domains, and I got the following error on all of them:
non-authoritative data received from the server "auth1.ns.charter.net"
That machine is supposed to be the secondary for all of my domains, but apparently they don't have something configured correctly.
Since I'm still learning about the whole DNS system, this brought up a couple of questions:
1) What does it mean for a server to respond authoritatively for a domain/zone.
2) How does one set up their DNS to respond authoritatively for a domain/zone.
TIA!
Ken
