Lame Secondary

I'm starting to get frustrated with my new ISP. One of their DNSes, auth0.ns.charter.net, is supposed to be acting as a secondary for all our domains. However, DNSExpert reports a "Non-authoritative data received from the server 'auth0.ns.charter.net.'" when I run it on any of our domains. (Sometimes it returns a zone transfer refused error from auth0.ns.charter.net.) Their DNS administrator sent me a copy of the zone info file for one of our domains, and all the info is correct and the serial numbers match what I have locally, but their DNS still sends a non-authoritative response to queries on any of our domains. They are using BIND 8.2.3. What can I tell them to do to fix this problem?

If you need to have a look for yourself at this problem, query auth0.ns.charter.net for info on any of the following:

allnightsing.com
aspinyplace.com
canterbury-estates.com
singingnews.com
southergospel.com

(BTW, what's the easiest way to use nslookup to determine if a DNS is authoritative for a given zone? TIA!)

Ken
