Re: Tax Setup in CanadaFrom: William Chase Date: Wednesday, September 3, 2003
Time: 11:09:29 amYeah, I set it up like you said for PE and things are working out now. I'm
not sure what I'll have to do when we start leasing hardware but I may be
able to keep the hardware sale portion in our ERP system.
Anyhow.. After getting the tax working I wrote a little script to convert
the QuickBooks exports into a format Oracle likes. It has been working fine
for a couple of weeks but I have some questions.. I see there is a field in
the file that is not populated, 'SERVICEDATE'. Is there something I need to
turn on to populate this? I'm looking for something that shows me the dates
that service (invoice) is worth.
Also is it possible to provide a payment type in the payments portion of the
QuickBooks file? I don't think it is but maybe you could tack it onto the
DOCNUM or something? Our company deals with two banks (don't ask.....), one
for credit card transactions and the other for cash, cheque and bank debit.
I am currently splitting them out based on '%-%-%-%' which is scary to say
the least..
One final question. We purchased an additional company license and I'm
working on setting up that company. Is it possible to get into the Company
Preferences screen for the second company? I know I can change some
settings in the 'More' screen but how can I change the server prefixes and
SMTP server info?
Once again, thanks for the help.

Well, the tax on tax falls under the secondary tax. Since the tax on tax is
the minority in your setup, you may want to just calculate the tax on tax
amount into the Tax Rate 2 for the tax class/zone. Otherwise you would end
up needing to create a separate sub-set of products/services just for that
province.
