Pathetic isn't it? Then why on earth do people buy RR? I ask myself
that question every time I lose a customer to them. Hmmmmm.. Could it
be price? Well you pay for what you get. RR is cheap, so I would
expect this from them. I have RR at home and its slow, latent and
speeds are all over the place at the strangest times. But what do I
expect for 50 buck a month? I'm an ISP, and I know what it costs to be
an ISP so I'm not complaining.

Yes, and they do. Another nice thing to note about RR is that they are
in 2 of the blacklists that they use themselves to block spam.

Not that I know of. But again, this is Cable we are talking about. It
is not a business class of service. Its cheap. Although it is cheap,
it is good for most things, and can work perfectly fine for a SOHO,
however you give up a few things. So you can live with the compromises
or buy a circuit from a Tier 1/2. T1 or higher providers do not
typically have millions or even thousands of residential customers
taking up resources and time. So how much do you pay and how much do
you get? $500/mo. $1000/mo. $2000/mo? what?

I'd argue with you all day about the reliability of DS1 or above. Your
statement simply is not true or indicative of that type of service. I
would be interested to know what types of problems you had because if
that were true ISP's would be using Cable :-) DSL is comparable to
cable in performance and latency. RR has not been bad at home, but
again, I pay $50 a month for it. If its down for a day or two, or slow
as hell or completely inconsistent, (which it is) why should I
complain? Its only 50 bucks a month. Now if I am paying $1500/mo. for
a T1 and it drops even one packet over a 24 hour period, I would be
going ballistic.

Like I said, you have some compromises to make when you use Cable.
Lack of inverse DNS and guaranteed tiered service are a few of those
things you have to compromise on.
