Good question.

The new delegation-only zones are only available with a patched
version of Bind 9. But Mac OS X 10.2.x and under, as well as QuickDNS
4.5.1 and earlier, use Bind 8.

Solutions:

QuickDNS 4.6 will include Bind 9.2.x. We will probably include the
patched version. The installer will make the necessary changes to the
configuration files to accommodate this change of Bind major version.

Panther (Mac OS X 10.3) will also include Bind 9.x. It will also
probably stomp on the QuickDNS configuration files, much as the
Jaguar update did. No word yet from Apple whether they'll include the
patched version, but it seems likely that they will.

You can also download, compile, and install the Bind 9.2.2 source
code and the P1 patch. (Patch the source code, then compile 9.2.2P1,
then very carefully install the necessary components.)

Yes. The patch is generic. It is not specific to the two wildcards
created by Verisign. You will need to manually create delegation-only
"zones" (even though they're not really zones) in the file user_after
(which on Mac OS X is located in /var/named/conf/).
