Well, yes. Our engineers our more up-to-date on these things than I.
Actually, it's possible we'll wait for the patching frenzy to calm
down before releasing any patched version.

A patch is (supposed to be) more stable and polished than a late
beta, and by definition, rc = late beta. The "c" stands for
"candidate", as in, more bugs could be found before the release of
9.2.3.
Since we don't have the resources to audit the Bind 9 source code
(who does?), we have to take ISC's word that a release version is
ready for prime time, while an rc version might not be.
