Importing questionsFrom: Jeremy S. Marshburn Date: Friday, September 26, 2003
Time: 8:29:59 amHello,
I'm Jeremy from American Data Technology, Inc. I've been given the
task of importing client data from our current ISP Billing software to
Optigold ISP 3.3. However, I'm getting rather confused on how to go
about doing this.
Firstly, the client data does not contain a field for email address for
that client. I have to do that in a separate import. How does Optigold
match the email address imported with the right customer? Does it match
up the login field? Or does it insert in the same order as the
customers? Having all the email addresses of the customers is important
for our business.
Next, how does Optigold handle importing phone numbers and addresses
from foreign countries. There is no country field provided or anything
like that. Also, the phone number fields only seem to handle area codes
and phone numbers, though I believe that they can hold more than the
standard number of digits. I figure the import should have the country
codes and such for the area code and the regular number for the phone
number. Is that the best way to handle that?
Another question involves transaction histories. I don't see an obvious
way of importing the transaction histories of our clients to optigold?
Is that handled through billing cycle or payments or something else
entirely? Is it even handled at all? I can't imagine how it wouldn't.
That's all the questions I have currently. Any help I get would be
greatly appreciated.
