While and NS is not requited we like to have the IP so that our system
can do an NSlookup to make sure that the NS really is what it is, ie.
exists as a host and exists as a name server.

That really does not matter because when you transfer your domain to
another registrar, even though you may enter new NS's the old NS's will
remail. You have to manually change the DNS servers with the new
registrar after the transfer has completed. At least that is the way
our system functions.
As to updating your IP go to manage.opensrs.com and enter your domain
name, then your user/pass. Once you log in go to "Name Servers". The
link is at the top right of the page. From there you will see all your
NS records and IPs Simply click a check in the Remove box and click
save configuration. From there add your name server IP at the bottom of
the page in the Adding New Name Servers section. Then click Add Name
Server..
Of course you could alternatively just replace the current name servers
in the name server fields with the new ones and then click the Save
Configuration button.

With OpenSRS this is simple... Go to that Name Servers section and
delete out all your name servers and save the config. From there add
them one by one in the order you want them and save. Then do a whois
and you will see them like this:
Name Server: JER.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS2.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS1.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS3.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS4.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS5.MIA.NET
Name Server: NS6.MIA.NET
Pretty hugh..? Of course ns2 is ahead of ns1 in our case, but that is
intentional.. But you get the idea.

Your registrar should be able to answer questions like this for you.
In any event if you ever want another OpenSRS Registrar, we do that at
www.thednsplace.com. Reseller pricing is pretty good, while not the
cheapest we are as low as $12/domain per year and offer great support
DNS services, ie., primary secondary and MX record mail services
included. Anyway, shameless plug.. Let me know if you need to know
anything else.
