*swoon* We're around the 60,000 mark for invoices and payments. Those
are two that just grow every month and are taking noticably longer to
import the old data from. At least our file size to amount of data ratio
is about the same as your example.
Yeah, same machine. Kill the clients, stop the server and let the hosting
box become the upgrade box for the duration. Is rather disruptive for the
office and likely means that future upgrades will require me coming in
during the wee hours. (Ok ok, so that's the real reason why I am suddenly
concerned about upgrade times.)
I do have a PII400 sitting behind me that is going to become a new
database server in the next couple days. I'll copy the datafiles over and
do a test upgrade to see how more modern hardware affects the time.
