Oracle Service CrashFrom: Adrian Lazar Date: Wednesday, October 29, 2003
Time: 10:26:15 amHello there,
Let me begin by saying that I am no DBA but I've been assigned the job
of troubleshooting an archive product that uses Oracle as a database.
I'm having a bit of a problem finding out why our Oracle database
crashes sometimes after performing cold backups. The database is not
shutdown during the cold backup period and it is also not in use by
either the archive product or other users. On the other hand, it has
been noted that it is not always affected by the cold backup. For
example, the database crashed on 09/17, 09/18, 09/25, 10/08, and 10/09
even though cold backups ran every night.
Right now I am speculating that Oracle has sometimes open processes that
use certain files during the cold backup period and that might be the
reason why it crashes.
Would someone help me out find an answer to this problem?
Thanks lots!
Adrian
