I have finally succeeded in the installation of Oracle 8.1.7 database with your help (on the machine with characteristics Windows 200 advanced server, Pentium ', 540MB of RAM, 17MB of hard disk). I created a database named "trial" on that server. I have another machine working on windows XP professional version 2002, with the characteristics: Pentium III, 240MB of RAM and 17MB of hard disk. I installed Oracle 9i on that latter machine. I am trying to access "trial" on 8.1.7 from Oracle 9i and I have the following error (ora-12638) while attempting to connect to "trial" with the user system. The error attests that informations on the user cannot be found. Can you help me on that?
