Wouldn't it be based on how far they are allowed to go past due? Also,
"past due" can be arbitrary... it could be from expiration date, from
invoice creation date, etc.

Yes only if you didn't give them a grace period. Some customers tell me
they are going to pay so I give them a grace period. Then after another
week or so they still don't pay I place the account on hold or cancel
it. A few more weeks go by and they contact me asking why their account
was canceled. It would be nice if I could tell immediately how mqany
days past due they were when each action (hold & delete) was performed
instead of trying to ficure out the days between the Hold Date & Term
Date
