4.6 on OS X 10.3 ServerFrom: Paul Willis Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2003
Time: 7:56:27 amHi
We were running QDNS 4.5.1 on two separate Mac OS X 10.2.x Servers. 323
zones and everything was fine.
I upgraded one of the servers (primary) to OS X 10.3.1 Panther Server.
I then installed QDNS 4.6, BIND remote and central.
The other machine (secondary) I left on 10.2 Server but upgraded QDNS
(BIND and remote) to 4.6.
Both servers respond correctly to DNS queries...
...but QDNS Manager tells me it cannot connect to the primary box
(running OS X 10.3.1 Server).
Manager connects fine to Central which is running on the same (primary)
box. It also connects fine to Remote on the secondary.
If I try running...
/Library/StartupItems/QuickDNS/qdnsr restart
/Library/StartupItems/QuickDNS/named restart
...in terminal I see...
[dnsserver:~] admin% /Library/StartupItems/QuickDNS/qdnsr restart
QuickDNS Remote is not running
[dnsserver:~] admin% /Library/StartupItems/QuickDNS/named restart
BIND is not running
Using OS X Server's 'Server Admin' tool and looking at DNS I see...
DNS Service is: Running
Zones Allocated: 323
Query Logging is: On
DNS Version: BIND 9.2.3
So it seems that QDNS remote and named aren't running or being used but
OS X Server has picked up all the zones and the BIND update from QDNS.
How do I get back to running QDNS version on my primary?
Paul
