Re: Panther, shared internet, and QDNSFrom: System Administrator Date: Friday, December 19, 2003
Time: 4:24:01 amWell, from the looks of Apple's discussion boards, there appear to be
multiple issues with Airport/DHCP/Panther. However, I have confirmed
that on my setup, internet sharing via Airport works up until I install
QDNS. Mind you, I don't think there is anything wrong with QDNS, BUT,
it does appear that Apple has implemented a sharing system that somehow
relies on the default setup of named. QDNS changes the structure and
location of some of the configuration files, and when this happens,
Apple's implementation of internet sharing breaks. Removing QDNS and
reverting back to the original setup allows internet sharing to work
again.
Again, I'm not saying that QDNS has done anything wrong--however, there
does appear to be a conflict here.
